Albania drafts law to legalize online betting
Albania has unveiled its draft law to legalize online betting, with strict requirements for digital payments and player registration
Albania has published its draft law on the legalisation of online betting. The country banned all forms of gambling except in a few land-based casinos in 2019.
The new law permits gambling online with registered and licensed operators that only accept digital payments. They must register players, store their personal data for three years, and accept deposits only through authorised financial agents.
The draft law also requires the creation of a special fund where 15% of corporate income tax paid by operators will be deposited to support sports, culture, innovation, and technology projects. Licenses will be issued by a new commission at the Gambling Supervision Agency.
