Danish gambling companies commit £1.4m to gambling addiction research
Major gambling companies in Denmark have donated £1.4m to the newly established Danish Gambling Committee, which will focus on treatment and prevention of gambling addiction
Several major gambling companies in Denmark, including Kindred Group, Danske Spil, Spilnu.dk, Mr Green, and Betsson Group, have committed a total of DKK12m (£1.4m/€1.6m/$1.8m) to the newly established Danish Gambling Committee.
The committee, chaired by Jørgen Frøkiær, head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University, will focus on treatment and prevention of gambling addiction, harm prevention among children and young people, preventing addiction within online gambling, and general knowledge gathering.
The University of Copenhagen, University of Southern Denmark, Aarhus University Hospital, and Aalborg University will also be represented on the board. The committee is expected to accept applications for new research projects in July.
