Denmark's gambling regulator wins case over illegal bingo and banko
Copenhagen’s City Court has ruled in favour of gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden in a dispute with a local association over illegal bingo and banko
A local association in Denmark has been found guilty of offering illegal bingo and banko games to its members on a daily basis for several years.
The Copenhagen City Court ruled in favor of gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden in a dispute over the issue, stating that bingo and banko were the primary purpose of the association and therefore in breach of national laws.
As a result, the association has been ordered to pay a fine of DKK15,000 (£1,752/€2,014/$2,213), with an estimated DKK5.0m to be confiscated.
This comes after Denmark's government committed an additional DKK30m to address problem gambling in the country over the next three years.
