Dutch minister emphasizes talks over fines for gambling ad ban compliance
Dutch Minister proposes talks with gaming operators for compliance with upcoming gambling ad ban, emphasizing the effectiveness of norm-setting discussions over fines
Dutch Minister of Legal Protection Franc Weerwind suggests that talks with gaming operators may be more effective than fines in ensuring compliance with the upcoming gambling ad ban in the Netherlands.
In response to parliamentary questions, Weerwind defended the approach of the Dutch gambling regulator, stating that norm-setting discussions before enforcement have proven to be effective.
The ban, set to begin on 1 July, will prohibit untargeted gambling ads on broadcast television, radio, and billboards, while permitting certain conditions for internet and on-demand television advertising.
