European regulators form joint commitment to tackle illegal gambling
European betting and gaming authorities unite to tackle problem gambling via cross-border cooperation
The Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF) has pledged to increase cross-border cooperation to tackle problem gambling and illegal betting websites.
The UK Gambling Commission, Germany’s Gemeinsame Geschäftsstelle Glücksspiel (GGL), and France’s l’Autorité Nationale des Jeux are among the GREF’s members, which have committed to regular meetings and sharing best practice.
GREF is chaired by the Dutch Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) regulator’s René Jansen, whilst the UKGC’s Executive Director, Tim Miller, is the organisation's treasurer. Illegal gambling is a common concern among European regulators due to the risks associated with unlicensed operators.
