Facebook under fire for online casino ads targeting Australians
Australian legislators are criticizing Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook for running online casino ads
Mark Zuckerberg’s social media company, Facebook, is under fire from Australian legislators who accuse the tech giant of targeting Australian consumers with online casino adverts for Bitzstar, an offshore casino in Curaçao.
Despite warnings from the Australian Communications and Media Authority, Facebook continued to run the ads, which the authority said broke Australian law.
The social media company maintains that Bitzstar is an “authorised gambling partner” under parent company Meta’s own policy, which requires advertisers to ensure that their ads are legal in the locations they target.
