Gambling logos allowed on cricket kits in international matches
The International Cricket Council lifts restrictions on betting sponsorships in bilaterals, effective April
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has lifted the restriction on betting sponsorships on playing attire and equipment for international bilateral matches.
The decision, effective from April, will heighten the spectre of sports betting in cricket. However, such sponsorships will still be prohibited in major ICC events such as World Cups.
The matter had been discussed during meetings last November, but restrictions were lifted after some teams from Full Member nations displayed gambling sponsorship logos on their playing kit or as on-field advertising at their home venues.
