Kentucky regulators have taken significant steps towards the launch of sports betting, as Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 551 into law
Kentucky regulators are actively collaborating with experts and commencing the hiring process in preparation for the launch of sports betting in the state.
Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 551 into law in April, paving the way for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to establish and oversee the sports wagering system.
The commission is currently working with officials from other states and industry experts to review regulations and best practices. Governor Beshear confirmed that the agency has already started hiring employees for wagering compliance, aiming to have the system operational by the start of the NFL season.
Additionally, significant partnerships are being formed between gambling industry stakeholders, such as Caesars Sportsbook's alliance with Keeneland and Red Mile racetracks, as Kentucky prepares for the legalization of both in-person and mobile sports gambling.
