Massachusetts mandates age indicator in sports betting ads
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has approved a requirement for all sports betting ads in the state to clearly indicate the minimum age for betting, with operators given 90 days to comply
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has voted in favor of a rule requiring all sports betting advertisements to clearly display "21+" or an equivalent phrase indicating the minimum age for sports wagering.
The 3-2 decision applies to both online and public location advertisements, including those in stadiums like Fenway Park, TD Garden, and Gillette Stadium.
The requirement is less strict than an original proposal in the Massachusetts sports betting bill, as it only applies to advertisements aimed at potential customers, not every instance of a brand's logo.
Sports betting operators have 90 days to comply with the new rule.
