New Hampshire Senate Passes iGaming Bill
New Hampshire's Senate approves online casino gaming despite concerns over cannibalization of charitable gaming revenue
The New Hampshire Senate passed a bill legalizing online casino gaming, becoming the first successful online casino vote by a Senate in 2023. The bill was drafted by Rep. Tim Land and advanced despite concerns that legal iGaming could cannibalize land-based casinos.
Charitable gaming properties in the state offer Lucky 7 electronic games and historical horse racing (HHR), and expansion of the gaming industry could negatively affect charitable efforts.
The iCasino bill limits the offering to online table games, and an amendment was added to favor charitable gaming sites by banning the games they offer for iGaming.
The bill diverts online gaming revenue to fund community college scholarships. The two bills have been advanced to the House by a single vote, where passage is expected to be more difficult than in the Senate.
