Ohio implements provision to ban sports bettors who harass athletes
Ohio has introduced a provision, the first of its kind in states with legal sports betting, that aims to ban gamblers who threaten or harass athletes
Ohio has introduced a unique sports betting provision to ban bettors who harass or threaten athletes over sporting events.
This change, part of the 2023-24 budget, could see individuals who partake in such behavior permanently banned from all legal sports betting options in the state.
The enforcement mechanism of this provision has yet to be disclosed.
It comes in the wake of incidents earlier in the year involving threats against the University of Dayton’s men’s basketball team.
This policy is reportedly the first of its kind among states with legal sports betting markets.
