Ontario proposes ban on sports stars in gambling ads
Ontario's AGCO proposes a ban on athletes in sports betting ads to prevent minors from being targeted
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is proposing to ban the use of celebrities, including athletes, in sports gambling advertising in Ontario to prevent appeals to minors.
The proposed rules would also prohibit the use of cartoon figures, social media influencers, and symbols or role models that could be expected to appeal to minors.
The AGCO will be accepting comments from stakeholders until May 8 before making any official changes.
