Spain recognizes poker players as professional sportsmen for taxation
Spain has recognized poker players, chess, billiards, and card players as professional sportsmen to tax their winnings
The Spanish Ministry of Finance and the Tax Administration Agency have recognized poker players, billiards, chess players, and card players as professional sportsmen to tax their winnings.
This move intends to regulate taxation rules and collect capital from players winning prizes. Previously, professional poker players established their tax residence outside Spain to avoid unfavorable taxation rules.
