Spelinspektionen receives additional funding to combat illegal gambling
Sweden’s Gambling Regulator will receive SEK 2.4m (€200,000) to bolster resources in fighting illegal gambling activities
Sweden’s Gambling Regulator, Spelinspektionen, is set to receive an additional SEK 2.4m ($280,000) in funding to combat illegal gambling, according to a statement from the country’s Financial Markets Ministry. The funds will be used to strengthen measures against unlicensed gambling, money laundering, and match-fixing.
The Regulator will be able to expand planned activities, increase personnel resources, and scale-up supervisory and information-gathering activities. In recent years, Sweden has seen rapid growth in the gaming industry and a rise in revenue turnover, which has led to a greater risk of criminal activities.
