Sportsbet breached industry standards with ad linking gambling to sexual success, Australian regulator rules
Australia's largest sports wagering company, Sportsbet, breached industry standards by implying that successful gambling would lead to sexual success, according to Ad Standards
Australia's largest sports wagering company, Sportsbet, has been found to have breached industry standards in an advertisement that implied successful gambling could lead to sexual success and make men more attractive.
The advertisement, which showed a man in shabby clothes winning a multi-bet and being teleported to an awards ceremony where he wins the "most outstanding same game multi" award, was found to create an impression that gambling "could result in enhanced attractiveness and an improvement in self-image".
The Ad Standards community panel ruled that the advertisement breached the wagering code, prompting Sportsbet to suspend distribution of the advertisement on television until an independent review is completed.
