Sweden's Ministry of Finance has recommended a ban on credit card transactions across all forms of gambling to enhance consumer protections against risky lending and over-indebtedness
The Ministry of Finance in Sweden has suggested the implementation of a ban on credit card transactions in all forms of gambling.
The recommendation came in a report focused on improving consumer protections against risky lending and over-indebtedness.
Although Sweden's Gambling Act of 2018 already prohibits the use of credit for most forms of gambling, lottery and soft game operators are exceptions, and some companies have been able to circumvent the ban through indirect credit payments via third-party services.
