Victoria's Premier Daniel Andrews and the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation, Melissa Horne, have announced comprehensive new gambling reforms
Victoria's Premier Daniel Andrews and the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation, Melissa Horne, have announced a range of gambling reforms targeted at reducing harm from electronic gaming machines (EGMs) or "pokies".
The changes include mandatory pre-commitment limits, carded play for identity verification, lower load-up limits, enforced venue curfews from 4am-10am, and slower spin speeds.
The move is described as providing the strongest gambling harm preventions and anti-money laundering measures in Australia.
These initiatives will be introduced following consultations with the industry and an implementation working group.
